Comparison of hotels by experience
There are many options for accommodations when traveling these days - hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, etc. So, other than pricing, which is rather easy to look up, and seems to change based on the events going on in that particular area on that particular day, how does one decide where to stay? Often times, one chooses a hotel based upon Star Rating. Another option is to read reviews, but you have to read the reviews for each hotel. This article will review the many hotels I have stayed at this year.
The Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Denver, see map, is a five star hotel. The coffee in the rooms is Starbucks (bonus), and the valet parking as well as bellman services are a treat. The location is perfect in that my husband has to work across the street. Food is easily accessible, including the 1550 Restaurant in the Hotel, and Katie Mullens Irish Pub in the Hotel Tower Building. The rooms are clean and beautiful. However, there is no dresser to put your clothing in, and the bathroom is not as big as many closets. It is crowded with one person in it. In addition, the towels are designed to remove skin. The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool, and no hot tub. All in all, it is a decent place to stay, but not so stellar that one gets a warm fuzzy.
The LaQuinta Inn in Loveland, Colorado is conveniently located to my sister's house, but also conveniently located if one is planning a trip to Estes Park. It is not particularly close to shopping, and there is only one restaurant within walking distance. However, since we are always driving, it is not a downside for us. The rooms are clean. The bathroom is spacious, and the beds are absolutely the most comfortable beds I have slept on in years. (Note: Is it because they are relatively new, or because of quality?) The hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub; which were very clean and enjoyable. This, by far, was an excellent place to stay.
The Marriott in Albuquerque, New Mexico is a very nice hotel. The rooms are a bit pricey, but the service is outstanding. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, as well as a pool. The rooms are very spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. An excellent place to stay if it fits into your budget.
The Holiday Inn in Rock Springs, Wyoming is my favorite hotel. The rooms are VERY spacious and the service is awesome. The rooms come with a refrigerator and a microwave; which is a true bonus for the budget conscious traveler. The beds are great, and the linens on the beds are absolutely divine. I am not sure what the thread count is, but a softer linen set would be difficult to find. The only drawback to this hotel, is that the towels also tend to remove skin. Thus, I always bring my own towel (problem solved). Every employee at this hotel seems focused on customer service; which in Wyoming is amazing.
There are many, many more hotels to choose from; however, these hotels are the ones I have personally experienced. I hope you found some useful information. If you are planning to travel; just be aware that more expensive doesn't always mean a better room!
